Meet the Millers is a an oil series focused on a “family vlog” channel that streams the lives of five children and their parents. The work reflects on formations of identity, contemporary spectacle, and the online document as means of “saving” a life.

My paintings embrace the intuitive and fluid qualities of oil paint. Here I think about meromictic lakes - bodies of water that stack themselves like layers of sheet cake, based on their chemical weight, and the layers do not mix. There is a simultaneous vertical control and horizontal freedom of movement. In painting, there is a responsive choreography between the directing hand, and the paint’s insistence to be free.
